Former wardrobe assistant Tricia Sampson is finally
breaking the silence surrounding last month’s wardrobe
mishap on X-Factor. Tricia lost her job on the popular
U.K. talent show after one of the contestants walked on
stage wearing a pale turquoise cocktail dress. The fatal
faux pas? Judge Cheryl Cole was wearing the same outfit.

Contestant Leila Parks, 17, managed to squeak out the
first few lines of Euro-Pop single “Dressed for Success”
before choking. She rushed from the stage in tears.
Sampson claims Cole caught a glimpse of the garment in
question during a backstage visit the prior week. “She
must have gone out and bought one for herself. We didn’t
anticipate that - turquoise is definitely not her color”.

Cole’s publicist pointed out that the sequence of events
is irrelevant “Cheryl can wear whatever she wants - it’s
in her contract.”
One angry viewer posted this comment on the X-Factor fan
site “We never had this problem when Sharon was judging.
She knew how to dress her age.”
Simon Cowell reacted with typical disdain over the
duplicate dresses “This is rubbish. I don’t fire an
assistant every time a male contestant wears a skintight
T-shirt on the show.”
Meanwhile, Sampson is taking time off to prep for next
season’s auditions. “I’m ‘shaping me up for the big
time, baby’” she said.
