Meaning : A dress made of a cheap grey fabric, also a young female worker wearing same. It’s French, so it’s safe to assume that “worker” means “hooker” in this instance – or “female” means “male”…

Example : The grisette of the young woman (I think) was draped about her (his?) lean shoulders, betraying the femininity that is France’s females (maybe).
